BEDROOMS

The Plume has four ensuite B&B rooms (each with one free parking space) perfect for a romantic weekend away, a business trip or a family home from home while you discover what Dorset has to offer. Each of our rooms have their own distinctive character ranging from a super-king double with the best view of the Abbey in Sherborne to a ‘studio’ style room off our glorious courtyard - please read about the details of our individual rooms lower down this page. They are all ensuite, well decorated, with double sofa bed, wi-fi, tea & coffee, large TV and each have their own individual character. However, the big bonus is there is mouth-watering Italian food, great beer, velvety Italian wine and lively cocktails waiting downstairs (or brought up to your room!). They are priced from £90.00 per night up to £150.00 per night including cooked breakfast and small buffet.

The Plume provides a convenient base to discover Sherborne and the surrounding area. The Abbey, castles, world famous schools and Cheap Street's independent shops are all on the doorstep of the pub. It is also a great base to discover some of the best that the South-West has to offer with an abundance of attractions within an hour's drive - The Jurassic Coast, Stourhead, Cerne Abbas Giant, Longleat Safari Park, Monkey World, Durdle Door, Montacute House and much much more. Please see the 'See & Do' section below.

Great food, great room, great atmosphere, great service. Can't fault it and will be back. The best Italian food we've had in the UK.

" Wow! What an amazing experience. Staff beyond friendly. Our room is top notch...if you like a big bath you are in for a treat. Couldn't get a better view of the Abbey, literally across the road. Whole town is beautiful. Food delicious and everything done with a smile. Apparently some people moan about the Abbey bells (every 15mins).....well stay somewhere else! "

Hayloft

Hayloft is a quirky, versatile and large 'studio' style room which is full of charater. It has it's own entrance and a view into our idyllic hamstone walled courtyard that gives the impression that you might have whisked yourself away to Italy not down the road to Sherborne. FAQs

How should I book a room?

The easiest and cheapest way to book is though our website using the 'Book a Room' button above. It also saves us a lot of commission and a lot of time on the phone so we can pay more attention to our customers in the pub.

Do we need to book a table for dinner?

You must always book a table if you would like to have lunch or dinner with us - please use the 'Book a Table' button above. We do get very full and we do not automatically book tables for B&B guests but we certainly try our best to fit you in.

Is the pub open 7 days a week?

No, the pub and restaurant operate Tuesday to Saturday each week as standard. On Sundays and Mondays, you can still check-in, check-out and we still serve breakfast as usual but the pub will be closed for food and drink througout the day. For this reason, we discourage one night stays on these days but the rooms are cheaper than any other day of the week for long stays. Occasionally we have some events on a Sunday.

Do you have parking available?

Yes. We have one parking space for each B&B room but we do not have any parking for our diners. Please head down the arch way next to the Half Moon (our neighbouring pub) and we have the last six spaces in their car park (marked for our use). Please register your number plate with us when you check-in.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is no charge for cancellations where 48 hours notice has been given before 3pm on the day of check-in. After this time, there is a charge of the first night's stay.

What are you check-in times?

Check-in is between 3pm and 10pm. Check-out is between 7.30am and 11am.

Do you allow dogs?

A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed in all the rooms - no wet dogs in the rooms and no dogs on the furniture. There is a £10 charge per dog per night. Dogs are allowed throughout the pub except for the old skittle alley dining area so please let us know if intend to bring a dog.

What facilities do the rooms have?

Please click here to see all the facilities in each room.

Does the price include breakfast?

Yes, breakfast included. A full cooked breakfast as well as tea/coffee, juices, cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit.

Are the B&B rooms quiet?

We are a busy town centre restaurant / pub with rooms and so there is background noise some times in all the rooms. Abbey Cottage 1 has great views of the Abbey, however the bells continue through the night at 15 minute intervals. Abbey Cottage 2 is above our kitchen so can be affected by noise from the kitchen during food service hours. Courtyard Suite is above the restaurant so you are likely to hear a bit of music in the evening. Hayloft is close to our neighbouring pub which can be noisey. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Can a family of four stay in one room?

Yes. All our rooms have either a Superking or King Size double bed but also have a small double sofa bed so can sleep 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Courtyard Suite has also got a small Z bed to increase the capacity to 2 adults and 3 children  - King size double in the bedroom and a sofa bed plus the option of the Z bed in the living room.

Do you have a Twin room?

Yes. Abbey Cottage 2 can be set up as either a Superking size double bed or Twin beds.

Are any of the rooms easily accessed from ground level?

No, all the rooms are on the 1st floor so accessed by a staircase. The 'Hayloft' is accessed on the ground floor but has an internal staircase within the room - the ensuite bathroom downstairs and the bedroom upstairs.

Is there a train station nearby?

Sherborne train station is on the main line between Exeter and London and is 5 minutes walk away from the pub.

Can you do room service?

Yes we can but please do let us know beforehand and we will let you know what time is feasible.

Do you have cots available?

We have one foldable cot that can be put in any of the rooms upon request at no extra cost.

Is there a minimum stay?

There is a minimum stay of two nights on Friday, Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays in all our rooms. If you would like to book a one night stay on a Friday or Saturday, there is a supplement of between £30 - £50.00 per room.

Can you smoke in the rooms?

There is absolutely a NO SMOKING policy in all the rooms!
